About this grant
This renewal grant provides support for Michigan State University’s efforts to document and promote solutions that help America’s older industrial cities address chronic fiscal stress and advance overall fiscal health. During the grant period, the grantee will develop a range of potential scenarios for addressing structural deficits and assess the feasibility of each scenario with a particular focus on legal and political implications. Special focus will be given to how states and municipalities deploy American Rescue Plan and other federal funds allocated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, Mott Foundation funds will also support direct technical assistance to the City of Flint on a limited basis.
