About this grant
The program goal is to promote a more favorable enabling environment for Mexican civil society. In 2021, a group of 20 organizations and networks formed Care of Civic Space, a coalition that aims to safeguard and promote the right of citizens to participate through organized civil society on matters of public interest. Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia, A.C. will serve as a platform to support and expand this coalition. Activities will include mapping of existing efforts to support civil society, regular national and regional convenings, the creation of 10 regional “promoter nuclei,” public awareness-raising of the role and value of civil society in Mexico and promotion of the right of civil society to participate in public interest matters. Founded in 1988, Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia, A.C. promotes the philanthropic and social responsible participation of Mexican citizens, organizations and companies to achieve a more equitable and prosperous society.
