About this grant
The Amazon Environmental Research Institute, a nonprofit research organization based in Brazil, collaborates with partners to better understand fire dynamics in the Amazon. The grantee is increasing the understanding of the complex interplay between: 1) fire; 2) climate factors such as drought and temperature extremes; 3) deforestation; and 4) human well-being. Over the last grant period, the grantee delivered rapid and reliable knowledge to support fire control initiatives through research and extensive outreach efforts. In this renewal, the Amazon Environmental Research Institute will further unravel how fire regimes catalyze forest ecological and social changes in the Brazilian Amazon. The aim is to facilitate adaptation strategies and enhance the resilience of forests and communities in the rapidly changing landscape.
