About this grant
The Derecho Ambiente y Recursos Naturales is a Peruvian nongovernmental organization focused on sustainable development and conservation of the Peruvian Amazon basin. During the previous grant period, the grantee: 1) initiated the implementation of a new strategic plan; 2) made significant contributions to strengthening environmental and social policy at the Inter-American Development Bank; 3) monitored projects by other development finance institutions; and 4) helped promote adherence to the Escazu Agreement, which will protect environmental defenders in South America. This renewal grant supports continued implementation of the grantee’s strategic plan, including efforts to strengthen social and environmental safeguards at international finance institutions. Derecho Ambiente y Recursos Naturales will also monitor the expenditure of funds addressing climate change to ensure the rights of Indigenous peoples are protected and Amazonian forests are conserved.
