About this grant

The project goal is to increase the awareness, understanding and engagement of the nonprofit and philanthropic sector with respect to digital policies and practices that impact the space for civic engagement. To this end, Civic Compass, a thought leadership division within Civic House, will conduct research and policy development on the challenges posed by big tech platforms, digital media and government regulation over the citizen sector. The project will include providing training and strategic advice on citizen mobilization and creative advocacy in order to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations working to reduce the effects of a shrinking civic space. The grantee strives to build knowledge about issues affecting the relationship between technology, the internet and representative democracy in Latin America. Based in Argentina with offices in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, Civic House has over ten years of experience working with a new generation of citizen-based initiatives that use technology to drive social change.
