About this grant

The Center for International Environmental Law works to advance the right to information, public participation and access to justice on environmental matters as well as ensure that investment decisions align with the development objectives of local communities. With Mott Foundation support, the grantee has assisted communities in Chile, Colombia and Panama to use non-judicial accountability mechanisms to change the way energy and infrastructure projects are implemented and secure changes in the policies of development finance institutions. The grant builds on long-standing efforts to improve the policies and practices of the World Bank Group by ensuring that accountability processes result in effective remedies for affected communities.
