About this grant
The Accountability Research Center at American University — a major university based in Washington, D.C. — works to improve the social and environmental outcomes of development finance institutions, strengthen accountability and enhance affected community participation in decision and policy making. With prior Mott Foundation support, the grantee led a series of dialogues between World Bank officials and civil society organizations. It also worked with organizations in developing countries to monitor the implementation of World Bank-financed projects and assess their compliance with social and environmental safeguards. This renewal grant will enable the Accountability Research Center at American University to continue advocating for stronger civic engagement at the World Bank due to shifting priorities in response to the challenge of climate change.
