Michigan Communities for Financial Empowerment Network

About this grant

The Community Economic Development Association of Michigan works to expand and strengthen financial security in communities across the state. Since 2011, the Mott Foundation has supported the grantee’s efforts coordinating statewide engagement and education activities that increase awareness and support for Children’s Savings Accounts. With this grant, the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan will continue to support the development of existing and emerging programs by deploying statewide data and account management infrastructure, communicating field impact, activating champions and providing technical assistance. This proposed project scope will: 1) remove barriers from communities hoping to start their own programs; 2) encourage statewide investment into the field; and 3) help local programs meet their community’s needs more efficiently and equitably — making postsecondary education and career training more accessible and believable for all students.
