National Urban League & Afterschool Initiative

About this grant

This grant will support the National Urban League to work in partnership with the afterschool field to increase access to high-quality afterschool programs for young people, particularly youth from marginalized communities. Specifically, this project will support the National Urban League and Afterschool Initiative which seeks to: 1) increase recruitment and retention of afterschool educators through expanded professional development supports; 2) work with the 50 State Network to increase training for afterschool educators in the areas of cultural competence, equity and youth voice; and 3) develop recommendations for increasing equitable education opportunities in the afterschool sector. The National Urban League’s Equity and Education Project will work closely with the 50 State Network and other afterschool leaders to share new trainings, exemplary models and best practices across the country.
