About this grant

This grant will support the work of the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers. The Rapporteur is an independent human rights expert appointed by the U.N. Human Rights Council with a broad global mandate focused on human rights issues relating to judicial systems and the legal profession. Over the course of their three-year term, the Rapporteur will focus on highlighting legal empowerment as an important strategy for buttressing the independence of judges and lawyers, and for improving access to justice more widely for marginalized and vulnerable groups.
