About this grant
A resilient, active and well-networked community of local social entrepreneurs is needed to facilitate accelerated access to distributed renewable energy services to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 on universal access to modern energy services by 2030. Since 1981, Ashoka has pioneered a systematic process of building such a network. With this grant, the grantee will comprehensively map and support 12-15 high-potential social entrepreneurs to deploy distributed renewable energy solutions in specific agricultural value chains. Ashoka will also award fellowships to support the long-term engagement of two exceptional African social entrepreneurs working on various aspects of distributed renewable energy services within East Africa.
