About this grant
Traditional and Indigenous forest dwellers in the Amazon rely mainly on canoes and boats to travel in the rainforest. Additionally, forest clearing for roads and other linear infrastructure brings deforestation and degradation in its wake. The Kara Solar Foundation and its partners in the Achuar territory of Ecuador have developed the first solar-powered boats and linked them to efforts to solarize their villages. This increase will be available for the general purposes of the grantee including participation in a high-profile clean energy conference in Brazil where Kara Solar Foundation can strengthen its profile and attract new supporters.
