About this grant
With support from the Mott Foundation, the Community Foundation of Wabash County designed and piloted an innovative scholarship program that harnesses the power of children’s savings accounts to positively influence student identity, school engagement and academic outcomes. Evaluation of the Early Award Scholarship program identified positive impacts on savings, college planning and student academic performance. This grant would enable the grantee to establish an endowment fund, creating a permanent stream of funds to support the program’s initial seed deposits and ongoing incentive awards. Based in Wabash, Indiana, the grantee had more than $78 million in assets as of December 2021, including 350 permanently endowed funds.
