About this grant

The Salesian Missions of Don Bosco is an international nonprofit that has been providing education and technical training to poor children and youth around the globe since 1947. The grantee’s local chapter in Tanzania has been operating vocational training centers since 1980. Over the past four years of Mott Foundation support, the grantee trained over 1,000 vulnerable youth as qualified solar technicians, and over 30% have either been formally employed in the solar sector or have established solar enterprises. Over the next two years, the grantee will strengthen its organizational capacity, strengthen partnerships with other organizations as well as build stronger networks between its alumni and existing students through mentorship and career support.
