About this grant
Since 2016, the Mott Foundation has supported the Wabash County Promise Initiative — a community-wide initiative designed to advance educational attainment and create a generation of educated, engaged and economically self-sufficient young people. Using research on what shapes college aspirations in children, the Community Foundation of Wabash County and its partners — local nonprofits, three public school districts, two private schools, local businesses and city and county government — harness the power of children’s savings accounts to help students build college-going identities and influence their college aspirations. Interim findings from the evaluation of the Early Award Scholarship pilot identified positive impacts on college savings, college planning and student academic performance. Based on these successes, this grant increase provides tie-off support to continue program operations for two additional years and enable the Community Foundation of Wabash County to ensure program operations continue after the Foundation funding ends.
