About this grant
The program goal is to strengthen the U.S. community foundation field by enhancing community foundations’ leadership in achieving local impact. Since mid-2021, the Council on Foundations has been working to improve its support of community foundations through four areas of specialized engagement: leading on public policy, enhancing Community Foundation National Standards, expanding its community foundation reach and building community through the Sustainable Development Goals. One indicator of its progress thus far is that community foundations membership in the council has increased from 315 in mid-2021 to 383 at present. A grant increase will allow the council to improve and streamline its peer benchmarking data capacity for community and other foundations, develop a new centralized hub for information on Sustainable Development Goal adoption by community foundations and enhance how the council leverages data internally to inform its work. Founded in 1949, the Council on Foundations is a membership organization of private, community and corporate foundations, primarily in the U.S.
