About this grant

This grant to the University of Michigan-Flint will support ongoing monitoring and testing of the Flint River. The testing will be conducted in partnership with the Flint River Watershed Coalition and analyzed by qualified laboratories. Testing will monitor the levels of a variety of chemicals in the river and will expand the number of sites that have historically been tested. The Flint River is currently used for a variety of activities such as fishing, kayaking and tubing. Contact with the river is expected to increase substantially once the in-river construction of the Flint River Restoration Project is complete.
