About this grant

The Albanian Civil Society Foundation is an information and resource center for the nonprofit sector in Albania. The goal of this project is to focus training and capacity building activities on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) outside the capital city of Tirana.Multiyear funding will enable a network of 18 trained NGO representatives to conduct local needs assessments, provide logistical support and work directly with participating local government representatives. Two training modules, lasting a total of five days, will be conducted in each of 10 participating municipalities. Training will focus on needs assessment, strategic planning for local development, cross-sector partnerships, budgeting and accounting, project development, and monitoring.Accomplishments during the past two years included training representatives from more than 250 NGOs and 23 representatives of local government; offering follow-up training sessions to further explore issues of management, planning and needs assessment; developing a team of trainers and local coordinators; conducting a field-based needs assessment in 12 regions; and producing an NGO training manual tailored to the needs of Albanian NGOs.
