About this grant
Nonprofits in the United States have faced economic challenges during the past few years. These challenges have forced many nonprofits to take a close look at their missions and operations. The Alliance for Nonprofit Management, based in Washington, D.C., assists nonprofit support centers and others who deliver management support services to nonprofit organizations. An Alliance Institute was developed to conduct research and training and to enhance the quality of technical assistance being delivered to nonprofit organizations.Multiyear funding will enable the alliance to focus on in-person learning, online learning and research. In-person learning will include an annual conference and regional meetings. Improvements to the Web site will allow members to use the Internet to share knowledge, keep up with trends in the field and discuss topics of concern. The alliance is also participating in the creation of affinity groups such as people of color, young/emerging practitioners, management service organization executive directors, technology assistance providers and board developers. The alliance recently designed and conducted a series of networking and learning events. The San Diego 2002 Conference attracted more than 400 participants, as did the Houston 2003 Conference, which introduced a core curriculum for nonprofit management assistance.
