About this grant

The Apartheid Museum is widely acknowledged as the preeminent institution dealing with South Africa’s apartheid history. It was specifically established to tell the story of the rise and fall of apartheid, the atrocities and human rights violations committed, the resistance mounted, and the eventual triumph of democracy. The museum continues to play a vital part in the country’s efforts to transcend the divisions of the past, serving as a stark reminder of the disastrous consequences of racism and discrimination, and as a salutary lesson never to repeat the past again. Mott’s support is for the operation of the museum, particularly as this relates to education, community outreach, and public awareness. This renewal grant will continue to support the work of the museum aimed at promoting understanding, tolerance, respect for diversity, and reconciliation.
