About this grant

The Centre for Development and Promotion of Voluntary Work was created to promote self-help techniques and volunteerism, especially among young people in war-affected communities. The program goal is to enable communities to address critical social needs by mobilizing human resources within the community.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include developing the center’s capacity to support existing volunteer programs in local communities and schools in Bosnia; expanding programs to other schools and communities, particularly in the Republic of Serbia; and sharing know-how with other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and schools in Southeast Europe. Activities will include organizing workshops and training; recruiting and training new mentors; establishing an information center; and conducting three international conferences on volunteerism.Recent accomplishments included organizing the recruitment and training of volunteers; working with school and local government administrators to arrange volunteer programs in schools; distributing information about volunteerism throughout Bosnia; and organizing two international conferences on implementing volunteer programs in schools and communities.
