About this grant
As international organizations become less involved in election processes in Central/Eastern Europe, the role of the Association of Central and Eastern European Election Officials (ACEEEO) will take on greater importance. With 20 member countries, the ACEEEO’s Training and Outreach program will be key in promoting the work of election officials in the region.Multiyear funding will enable ACEEEO to develop a pilot project to encourage first-time voters through voter education activities; improve outreach to members by publishing a semi-annual journal of election commission issues in Russian and English; strengthen the capacity of election commissions in member countries through training seminars; assist election commission officials to participate in training seminars and annual conferences; and maintain a Web site for members.Recent accomplishments included developing expertise on key issues; establishing international standards of electoral procedures and practices among countries; and supporting election observation missions to Kosovo and Belarus.
