About this grant
The program goal is to build the capacity of youth-oriented, nongovernmental organizations to participate in broad-based efforts to promote respect for rights and elimination of abuses. To achieve this, the Association of Ukrainian Human Rights Monitors on Law Enforcement will engage young people in a systematic effort to assert civil control over the work of law enforcement agencies in Ukraine. In addition, through public campaigns and further training of local youth monitors, the grantee will develop networks of existing regional and national youth organizations to further advance the cause of preventing abuse of rights. Established in 2010 by former staff of the Human Rights Monitoring Department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the grantee’s mission is to develop effective means of civil control over Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies. Through its 16 offices nationwide, it also works to broker constructive relationships between these agencies and civil society organizations.
