About this grant
The Transatlantic Community Foundations Network was created in response to the rapid growth of the community foundation field across Western and Central/Eastern Europe. The goal of the network is to facilitate, nurture and encourage the development of community foundations in Germany and across Europe by strengthening communication and interaction with more experienced community foundation leaders in Canada and the United States.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include integrating the activities of four groups working on specific community foundation issues; strengthening the working groups by helping them build on past activities; encouraging more product development; and fostering greater collaboration with partner organizations and programs, such as the community philanthropy initiative of the European Foundation Centre and the Worldwide Initiative for Grantmaker Support – Community Foundations.Accomplishments during the past three years included engaging representatives of 35 community foundations and support organizations from 13 countries in the network; establishing four working groups to focus on specific community foundation issues; initiating an international advisory committee; convening an annual plenary meeting to bring together all working groups and the advisory committee; and producing print and Internet information services.
