About this grant

The Consultative Group on Biological Diversity provides a variety of services to its 47 member foundations and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Its goals are to build partnerships among funders, improve the quality and quantity of biodiversity-related grantmaking, identify funding gaps and grantmaking priorities, and broaden the constituency for biodiversity conservation.Multiyear funding will enable the organization to continue and expand its activities including coordination of the Forest Working Group, the Marine Working Group, and the Biodiversity and Environmental Health Working Group meetings and conference calls; preparation of briefings on emerging issues; publication of regular newsletters and updates; maintenance of its Web site; provision of one-on-one consultations with members; and organization of the annual meeting to review the year’s progress and recommend new issues and strategies.Recent accomplishments included responding to issues related to climate change; organizing the 2002 and 2003 annual membership meeting; co-sponsoring an international policy briefing on grantmaking in Africa, Asia and Latin America; convening funders interested in forestry and freshwater issues in the Southeast; and providing an efficient means of communication between and among funders and non-governmental organizations.
