About this grant

The program goal is to strengthen the culture of philanthropy in Bulgaria. To this end, the Bulgarian School of Politics will carry out systematic research on various issues related to philanthropy, including trends in philanthropic giving, the effectiveness of current philanthropic practices, and the impact of philanthropy in Bulgaria. In addition, the school will facilitate public debates on philanthropy through social and mainstream media. Also, the school will introduce a specific module on philanthropic giving coupled with a practical philanthropic project in its training program for young civic and political leaders. The school was established in 2001 with the mission to build a community of civic and political leaders who share democratic values and participate actively in national and international political and public life. Since 2001, more than 400 Bulgarian and 150 Central and Eastern European leaders, including members of parliament, party leaders, and civic activists have graduated from the school. The school is engaging its trainees in philanthropic initiatives as part of the trainees’ public policy development work.
