About this grant

The project goal is to help community foundations advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at the local level. Over the past grant period, the grantee developed and tested community leadership metrics and established baseline information about the degree to which U.S. community foundations are incorporating the Sustainable Development Goals into their work. In the upcoming grant period, the grantee will institutionalize the annual collection of data on the work of community foundations related to the Sustainable Development Goals and community leadership. The grantee will also create and regularly convene a coordinating group of researchers working on this issue. The work is being led by CF Insights, a service of the grantee which collects and shares data and conducts analysis that helps community foundations improve their performance. Candid was established in 2019 as the result of a merger between Foundation Center, the leading source of information on U.S. philanthropy, and GuideStar, the leading source of information on U.S. nonprofit organizations.
