The project goal is to help funders, policymakers, and civic activists take the full measure of the changes buffeting civil society globally and advance efforts to rethink civic engagement and civil society development assistance. The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will include: 1) expanding a civic activism scholars network from ten to 12 scholars, 2) convening four workshops and international meetings, 3) publishing ten articles and two major reports, and 4) conducting interviews and consultations with at least ten assistance practitioners and policymakers. During 2016-2018, the grantee generated knowledge in the form of articles and reports and created linkages between the research, practice, and policy domains through workshops and briefings. Established in 1910 in Washington, D.C. with a gift from Andrew Carnegie, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States.
