The project goal is to help funders, policymakers and civic activists take the full measure of the changes buffeting civil society globally and advance efforts to rethink civic engagement and civil society development assistance. To this end, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will expand a civic activism scholars network by adding experts on digital technology and rights; convene workshops and international meetings; publish reports and articles; and brief funders, practitioners and policymakers on key trends and dynamics. During 2019-2020, the grantee generated knowledge in the form of articles and reports and created linkages between the research, practice and policy domains through workshops and briefings. Established in 1910 in Washington, D.C. with a gift from Andrew Carnegie, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cooperation between nations and promoting active international engagement by the United States.
