About this grant

The Carpathian Foundation is a cross-border regional foundation working in the contiguous areas of Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine. Its mission is to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations and local governments in the Carpathian Euroregion to strengthen local democracy; create new ways to promote regional and economic development and cross-border and interethnic cooperation; build the capacity of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to meet social and economic needs at community and regional levels; and encourage citizen participation.Multiyear funding will enable the foundation to operate grantmaking programs that include capacity building, integrated rural community development, cross-border cooperation, improvement of interethnic relations, best practices of local governments award, cultural heritage, cross-border activities of Romany organizations and intercultural dialogue in the region. Funding will also support an endowment campaign.
