About this grant
Based on its mission to build a culture of peace, nonviolence and positive change, the Center for Peace Studies has two core programs: the peace studies program and the peace-building training and support program. Each program focuses on giving citizens the training and understanding needed to promote peace and stability in their communities.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include increasing the number and diversity of participants and further developing the curriculum of the peace studies program; increasing the number and quality of trainers for the peace-building training and support program; analyzing and documenting community-based, peace-building practices in Croatia and the former Yugoslavia; and encouraging public dialogue about the past and issues of truth, responsibility and reconciliation.Activities during the past year included developing a unique training and educational program for young people that focuses on democracy, human rights and conflict transformation; and organizing public events to facilitate dialogue on issues of truth, responsibility and reconciliation associated with the wars in the region during the past 10 years.
