About this grant
The State Fiscal and Low-Income Initiatives Project, created in 1996, has three main components: federal budget and fiscal priorities, state-level budget and fiscal priorities, and safety net programs. Within each component and for the project as a whole, the goal is to produce strategic research and analyses to inform the decisionmaking of policymakers and assess the impacts their decisions have on low- and moderate-income families. Multiyear funding will support objectives that include producing analyses of federal and state legislative proposals for broad dissemination; conducting briefings for policymakers, advocates and the media on issues affecting low-income families; providing technical assistance to state-level organizations working on budget and fiscal matters; facilitating the dissemination of information and networking among state-level organizations; and organizing annual conferences for organizations working on state budget and fiscal policy issues.
