About this grant

The goal of the North Caucasus Youth Peacebuilding Network is to encourage youth to participate in efforts to promote peace in the North Caucasus region of Russia. The network, created by the Moscow-based Centre for Peacemaking and Community Development, consists of representatives from youth non-governmental organizations in six Russian republics in the region.Multiyear funding will support activities that include conducting training-for-trainers seminars; organizing various peace-building projects; establishing an intercultural youth center in one region; hosting youth exchanges; presenting the program, "Russian North: North Caucasus — Without Xenophobia"; organizing biannual youth culture festivals; and providing summer camps for children aged 10 to 14.Recent accomplishments included building a pool of 40 trainers in conflict-management skills, human rights, tolerance and peace-building; identifying target groups and conducting training programs in each region; and providing a children’s summer camp and youth culture festivals, tours and exchanges.
