About this grant

The Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia is the leading philanthropic support organization in Mexico. In order to address local needs, nearly 20 community foundations were established in Mexico during the past decade. In 2001, an affinity group was formed to provide professional development, networking and information services to community foundation staff.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include strengthening individual community foundations through training, consulting and technical assistance; developing Mexico’s community foundation network; building the community foundation field; increasing visibility and awareness of the community foundation field; and promoting the creation of new community foundations.Accomplishments during the past two years included securing an endowment-building grant for 10 community foundations; developing and applying a community foundation definition and model; organizing three workshops each year and an annual meeting; and joining the Transatlantic Community Foundation Network (TCFN) and hosting a TCFN working group meeting.
