About this grant

Over the past 70 years Christian Aid has been supporting efforts to advance sustainable development, eradicate poverty, support civil society and provide disaster relief in the developing world. During the last grant period, the grantee strengthened the capacity of more than 50 civil society organizations and coalitions in Africa to monitor and inform investment policies of the Africa Development Bank and other multilateral finance institutions. These efforts were aimed toward shifting investments away from fossil-fuel development to increased investments in decentralized renewable energy solutions, which help solve global climate change. During the next grant period, Christian Aid will consolidate and expand on these efforts by increasing its civil society partnerships to enable broader regional and national level civil society organization engagement on these issues.
