The New York based Citizens Campaign Fund for the Environment was founded in 1985 and is one of the largest, most respected grassroots environmental organizations in the state. The grantee has four offices in New York and leads public education initiatives to change behavior and protect the environment from water pollution including pharmaceuticals, plastics, pesticides and chemicals. The grantee’s work is especially important now, as it connects communities and neighborhoods with policy decisions at the state level. The financial fallout from the pandemic will impose tough decisions on New York State, and the grantee will help make the case that postponing protection of the environment will make problems worse and more costly. With this grant, the Citizens Campaign Fund for the Environment will lead a range of statewide education initiatives, including those that benefit and protect the Great Lakes and the people who depend on them.
