About this grant

The Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society at the City University of New York Graduate Center is testing the value of establishing a policy think tank on foundations and philanthropy. The proposed think tank would be a collaborative model serving the dual purpose of producing policy-relevant research and also becoming a reservoir and "go-to place" for both new and existing research on foundations. This grant supports stage one in which a collaborative model will be tested. Activities will include commissioning papers by scholars on foundation impact; conducting literature reviews on evaluation and foundation impact; developing an advisory committee to guide the project; conducting a sample study; convening a conference bringing together information gathered from the research and sample study; publishing and disseminating the conference proceedings; and raising funds for next stages of the project.
