About this grant
Today, the nonprofit sector in Poland is one of the most active in Central/Eastern Europe and Russia. Polish infrastructure organizations — nonprofits whose primary objective is to provide services to other nonprofits — play a major role in the sector’s development. However, these organizations need to address several challenges in order to continue playing a key role. The ProBonus Fund is a joint initiative of several infrastructure organizations: the Ford Foundation, the Stefan Batory Foundation and the Mott Foundation.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include promoting the achievements and possible roles of infrastructure organizations in the future development of the Polish nonprofit sector and the country in general; and researching, developing and implementing financial mechanisms that help infrastructure organizations and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to use existing financial resources more effectively and increase their financial stability. Activities will be conducted in three stages: research, implementation and assessment. The Civil Society Development Foundation – Poland grew out of a two-year program of research and training with Western and Polish trainers. Its mission is to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of NGOs and citizen-led initiatives.
