About this grant

The Committee of Voters of Ukraine was created in 1994 to monitor elections. Currently, the organization has regional branches in all 25 oblasts and the Republic of Crimea. Since its inception, it has mobilized thousands of volunteers to monitor various parliamentary, presidential and local council elections.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include promoting free and fair elections; assisting citizens in relations with local officials; conducting watchdog activities; providing community organizing training; and building organizational capacity.Activities during the past three years included monitoring election campaigns; encouraging accountability of elected officials to their constituencies; analyzing election legislation; providing citizen advice bureaus; maintaining a Web site; publishing a newspaper; and promoting community self-government organizations.
