About this grant
The Community Based Development Programme provides leadership and organizational development training to empower community-based organizations in poor communities to participate more effectively in local economic development initiatives that improve the quality of people’s lives. Previous support enabled it to implement the Community Empowerment for Development program, which provided organizational capacity building to enhance the effectiveness of community-based organizations in Gauteng and Mpumalanga provinces. This grant will provide continued support to the grantee to train, mentor, and support community-based organizations in some of the poorest and most marginalized regions of South Africa. It will also run the Development Management Certificate course in collaboration with the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, which offers specific training to middle- and senior-level leaders of nonprofit organizations.
