About this grant
The Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers is an organization of critical importance for this region and is based in Chicago. The grantee coordinates collaborative activities among the chief executives of the ten states and provinces to advance resource protection and sustainable economic development. With previous support from the Mott Foundation, the grantee has hosted the premier high-level summit of its kind every two years. With renewed support, the grantee will host another summit in 2021, either in Cleveland or virtually. These summits often lead to coordinated policy and project activities. One such activity that has emerged is an impact investment program that leverages private capital for stewardship objectives. This grant will also support further development of that innovative initiative and its potential application to invasive species control.
