About this grant
The Council of Michigan Foundation (CMF) is currently facing two related leadership challenges. As one of the leading regional associations of grantmakers, CMF needs flexible funds in order to respond to critical issues such as changing economic realities, the role of technology and the intergenerational transfer of wealth. CMF has also had the distinguished service of a board member for more than 26 years and there is a need to both honor her service and send a message to other board members that exceptional leadership is uniquely valued.Multiyear funding will help support the creation of a $1 million leadership endowment fund in honor of Margaret (Ranny) A. Riecker. The fund is expected to generate $50,000 annually and will be used to sustain CMF’s position as one of the leading regional associations of grantmakers nationwide. Mrs. Riecker is a trustee and officer of both the Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation and the Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Foundation. She is the only individual to have twice chaired the CMF board.CMF, incorporated in 1975, is a nonprofit membership association comprised of more than 495 foundations and corporations making grants for charitable purposes. Its mission is to enhance and increase philanthropy in Michigan.
