About this grant

Increased international grantmaking has resulted in the need for up-to-date information on the legal and regulatory environment in selected foreign countries. In April 2000, the U.S. International Grantmaking (USIG) project established a Web site to provide timely information and serve as a resource for American funders with international programs. Multiyear funding will enable USIG to update legal and regulatory information on the Web for as many as 29 countries, as well as review the need for revisions on a yearly basis. In addition to being updated, relevant portions of country laws will be translated into English and posted on the Web site. New country notes may be added. The International Center for Not-For-Profit Law’s staff and legal specialists will conduct the research and analysis needed for updating. The Council on Foundations, established in 1949, is a membership organization of private, community and corporate foundations, primarily in the United States. Its mission if to promote responsible and effective philanthropy.
