About this grant

The Community Development Assistance Program was created to help communities in the Czech Republic address the issue of sustainable development. The program combines U.S. community development techniques, such as community visioning, with the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation’s previous experience with communities through its grantmaking program and other support.Multiyear funding will support activities that include providing continued learning opportunities for the group of trainers; creating a training program for municipalities; and promoting the experience gained from the project to other Environmental Partnership for Central Europe countries such as Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.Recent accomplishments included developing the skills of 19 consultants in various techniques of community development; providing seed funds and extensive capacity-building opportunities to 25 local pilot projects in the Czech Republic; publishing five manuals on different community development techniques; and raising awareness about the project in the public and business sectors.
