About this grant
The project goal is to increase the engagement of local communities in the peace process in southeastern Turkey. Established in early 2010 by a diverse group of experts and civil society leaders to provide field-based analysis and policy proposals on key issues, the Diyarbakir Institute for Political and Social Research is now well placed to play a critical role in the peace process. Through this project, the grantee will conduct in-depth, original research on community-based mechanisms that address issues of justice and reconciliation. To empower local communities to help shape the way these issues are addressed, the research will involve extensive consultations with a range of community leaders and stakeholders. Findings and analyses will be shared widely with local communities in the region, civil society organizations, government officials, and the public. There will be a published report in Turkish, Kurdish, and English and public presentations of the findings. The grantee is based in Diyarbakir, Turkey.
