About this grant

In 2001, the Environmental Management and Law Association initiated the Review of the Hungarian Legislation Governing the Nonprofit Sector project (NOSZA) to strengthen the legal framework of the NGO sector.Multiyear funding will support activities that include continuing research to address some of the shortcomings of the legal environment; building an effective coalition of NGOs to promote legislation of a more enabling nonprofit sector; and strengthening cooperation with other Visegrad countries.Accomplishments during the past year included building NGO understanding that nonprofit legislation is an important issue that can only be addressed effectively through the joint action of NGOs; establishing strategic cooperation with key national NGOs and networks; and publishing a thorough analysis of the Hungarian legal framework.
