About this grant
The State Environmental Leadership Program is a national network of organizations working at the state level on environmental issues. It primary members are state environmental councils – – independent, professional organizations that respond to the needs of their respective states. Since most of the current 58 member groups are not affiliated with a larger group, there is a need for training, networking and program services. In response, the program organizes an annual conference; offers organizational development and leadership training programs; and provides research, education and communication services to networks of member groups working on common concerns.Multiyear funding will enable the program to focus on enhancing the effectiveness of the work of member groups and ensuring that the organizations themselves are strong and efficient. Activities will include convening annual conferences; encouraging peer mentoring; offering executive director training; providing technology training and support; and promoting the exchange of Web-based information among members.
