About this grant

The Welfare Information Network serves as a clearinghouse for information on welfare policy and implementation. It also promotes networking and cross-state information sharing, and brokers technical assistance to states and localities through small grants. The network addresses the needs of states and localities as key customers, complementing and supplementing existing technical assistance resources and networks. Its goal is to encourage networking and cooperation so as to increase the impact and depth of available technical assistance.Multiyear funding will enable the network to improve access to and the use of existing and developing information resources; strengthen program implementation through identification and dissemination of human services tools; encourage the development of a new national information system to support the dynamics of welfare reform; and provide access to information critical to an effective reauthorization.Recent accomplishments included expanding technical assistance work on the financing and sustainability of community-based initiatives; improving resource capability and reach; providing and brokering information and assistance to policymakers, researchers, practitioners, funders and other audiences; and publishing reports on financing and sustainability strategies, results-based decisionmaking and welfare issues.
