About this grant
This grant will allow the Flint Cultural Center Corporation to purchase two properties on the cultural center campus. The grantee currently owns and maintains the 33-acre cultural center campus, manages the operations of The Whiting, Sloan Museum, and Longway Planetarium, and leases buildings to the Flint Institute of Arts and the Flint Institute of Music (including Bower Theater, home of the Flint Youth Theatre). The grantee will purchase the Sarvis Conference Center and Food Services building from the Flint Community Schools. Additional funds will allow the grantee to conduct an environmental assessment of the properties, evaluate potential reuse options for the buildings, and revise the Flint Cultural Center campus master plan to incorporate these properties.
