About this grant

The Flint-Genesee Economic Growth Alliance works to ensure the economic viability of Genesee County’s business community by coordinating economic development entities, targeting programs and services for job growth and collaborating with public and private sector leaders.Funding will support efforts to retain, expand and attract businesses to Flint and Genesee County. Targeted business segments will include manufacturing, wholesale, business services and transportation. In addition, the Growth Alliance will conduct more than 100 visits to local manufacturing companies to identify business opportunities.The Growth Alliance was established in 1997 by a group of Flint business and community leaders who decided to initiate an effort to significantly improve economic development in the area. Between 1998 and 2003, the Growth Alliance successfully recruited 11 new companies to Flint and Genesee County; contributed to the expansion of 27 local companies; assisted in the creation of 1,583 new local jobs; and facilitated more than $150 million in capital investment.
